Annie's legacy lives on

The Annabelle Forever Young Foundation, Inc. was created in memory of Annabelle “Annie” Helen Young of Berkeley Heights, NJ, who died suddenly from a ruptured AVM on May 4, 2019 at the tender age of 8 yrs old.

Annie was an enthusiastic, thoughtful, entertaining, courageous, and fun-loving girl who brought immense joy to people and pets of all ages. She loved playing basketball and softball and she cherished the friendships she developed while wearing #19 on her jersey. The Annabelle Forever Young Foundation was created by Annie’s family and close friends just days after her passing as a way to honor her life, her dreams and her legacy. In her memory, the Annabelle Forever Young Foundation awards an annual, merit-based scholarship of $5,000.00 to the student(s) who, through academics, athletics and/or volunteerism, best exemplifies the values by which Annie Young lived her life. The Foundation is a representation of the impact Annie had on her friends, family, and the entire Berkeley Heights community.

The scholarship is open to all graduating seniors of Governor Livingston High School who will be enrolling in a post-secondary institution to defray the costs of the student’s education (i.e. college, community college, trade or vocational school).

About Annie

Annabelle “Annie” Young was a beautiful, kind-hearted and fun-loving 8 year old girl who was taken much too soon on May 4, 2019. Annie was the only daughter of Paul and Laura Young of Berkeley Heights, NJ and the only sibling of her older brother, Henry. Annie was a carefree girl who loved her family, her dog Dodger and her abundant friends, classmates and teammates. Although she lived a short life, it was filled with the kind of love and joy that most people only hope for. She is remembered by many and deeply missed by those who had the profound privilege of sharing their lives with her. Although Annie’s family has been devastated by her loss, they have been strengthened by the love and support of family, friends, neighbors and colleagues. Annie’s kindness, courage and zest for life continue to shine through others and her legacy lives on through the Annabelle Forever Young Foundation and her final gifts as an organ donor.

Memories of Annie

  • She was always both full of joy and fiercely competitive -- usually at the same time. She was a great first baseman who peppered line drives all over the field, she was full of spirit and leadership. She was everything you could want in a player.
    - Bret Sayre
  • Annie brought many gifts to the field such as making people smile, encouraging people to do well, and always being kind to her teammates. Now, let’s play for Annie!
    - Alexandra Duryee
  • I want you all to know that Annie was such a sweet, loving, kind, and caring person. She was the first to do a cheer and she just was a pleasure to have on our softball team. It is an honor to wear her number on our jersey today.
    - Alyson Sayre
  • Annie, your time with us was brief, but unforgettable — the gift of your sparkle continues to shine in the world. You are loved and missed.
    - Jessica Nardi, Hughes School Principal
  • Even though Annie is no longer with us physically, Annie's wonderful beautiful spirit will remain in our hearts and our lives today, tomorrow and always.  Annie would want you to embrace life everyday - like she did.
